Lakers squeeze past the Bucks 107-102
Coach JJ Redick and LeBron James were disgruntled about having to travel so far for just one preseason game, but the opportunity to play against another quality opponent was worth the trip.
To begin the game, the Lakers committed back-to-back turnovers, with Giannis Antetokounmpo scoring four points in a row. L.A. took control from there, scoring nine straight with Max Christie, who started in place of the injured Austin Reaves. Bobby Portis came off the bench for Milwaukee and scored 10 quick points. To end the first quarter, the Lakers went on another run with Anthony Davis making some jumpers, giving his team a 26-23 lead.
After Portis hit back-to-back triples to open the second, James replied with a triple of his own. It was difficult for the Lakers to stop Antetokounmpo from going downhill, which led to an 11-0 Bucks run to regain the lead. Antetokounmpo and Portis combined for 43 points for the Bucks in the first half, leaving the Lakers trailing 58-52 at the half.
For the Lakers to begin the third quarter, Davis was still in there and immediately went to work down low. James, Antetokounmpo, and Damian Lillard were all done for the night. This preseason, Bronny James has seen limited action for the Los Angeles Lakers. James has played in all three preseason games, but his impact has been minimal. During the Lakers' 107-102 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, he played just six minutes.
