Los Angeles- After the 2021 NBA All-Star concluded, Kawhi Leonard stated that he plans on playing in the Olympics.

After the pandemic happened last year, the Tokyo Olympics were postponed and pushed back to this year. There has been a lot of push back and concerns with the Olympics continuing to move forward, despite the rise of COVID-19 cases. The Olympic committee have been issuing safety guidelines for players and limited attendance that will be in the stands. Everyone must tested negative, everyone is required to wear face coverings, and practice social distancing.
With a shortened NBA season, players have the option to either opt out of playing or prepare for the unique Olympics, which will start in July. San Antonio Spurs head coach Greg Popovich will coach the USA team and if healthy Leonard will reunite with his former coach.
“If I feel up to it and feel ready to go around that time, then I’m going to play,” Leonard said.
