Jake Paul defeats MMA legend Nate Diaz in Diaz's boxing debut
Boxing has often been described as “the sweet science.” The ultimate sport of hit and not be hit, everything we thought we knew about the sport could have been thrown out the window after last night’s Jake Paul and Nate Diaz bout. For those who watched the fight saw a very fun fight. Second, it was very odd especially in the case of Nate Diaz who seemed to have a lot more fun taunting and walking through Paul’s toughest shots than actually wanting to win.
Paul (7-1, 4 KO) timed up his shots well and he clearly outboxed Diaz around the ring, though Diaz stayed in the fight for the duration. Diaz was able to have some moments in the fight, but it seemed as if his punches were more slaps than actual timed boxing shots. Paul did score a knockdown of Diaz in Round 5 when he caught him with a check hook to the temple that sent Diaz into the ropes and staggered him for a bit. Diaz was able to regain his senses and continue to fight. That was truly the story of the fight, Paul landing huge shots while Diaz talked smack through the shots and taunting his opponent.
After the fight Paul was named the victor in the unanimous decision. Paul challenged Diaz to a 10-million-dollar MMA fight. Diaz seemed to agree to it. Paul and PFL have a standing $10 million offer for Diaz to do it. Diaz said it would have to be co-promoted by Real Fight Inc. "I'll fight anybody," Diaz said. "I don't give a f---." Paul was very complimentary of his MMA foe saying, "He's a warrior," Paul said in his post fight interview. "I had him in the first round. He kept on coming. No one has taken that much damage. All credit to my team and my conditioning."
It doesn’t seem like these two men are done with each other as of yet and will likely have a MMA fight lined up in the near future.
