Jake Paul and Tommy Fury set to fight December 18 in Miami
The narrative that has surrounded Youtube sensation Jake Paul’s boxing career is that he has yet to face a real boxer. December 18th those who are still interested in seeing Paul will semi get their wish as Paul agreed to fight Tommy Fury the younger brother of heavyweight kingpin Tyson Fury.
Tyson has already weighed in on his brother’s big bout jokingly or seriously saying if his brother loses to a Youtuber the family will disown him. While the fight has not been made all the way official the particulars of it have been met and Fury’s promoter Frank Warren believes the announcement will happen as soon as this weekend.
“At the moment we’re working through the terms, we’re quite close and I’m hoping we can get it over the line,” said per Manchester Evening News. “It’s a great fight for Tommy. It’s a very lucrative fight for him. Financially, how can you not turn that down?
The numbers have not yet been stated but Jake Paul took to twitter as he often does tweeting to Floyd Mayweather about his fighters Gervonta Davis and Rolly Romero upcoming bout saying his purse for his fourth fight doubles his fighters purses.
As far as the fight is concerned Paul finally faced a true test against MMA legend Tyron Woodly narrowly escaping a split decision but extending his boxing record to 4-0. Fury is 9-0 and his last fight was on the Jake Paul undercard defeating Anthony Taylor by decision. The build up to the Paul Fury fight started immediately as both men had to be separated in the hallway after an exchange of words followed by Twitter trolling by Paul.
This is a fight that both fighters seem to want. For Fury it allows him to shut Paul up and hold his family name intact while continuing to grow in his boxing career. For Paul beating Fury gives him the satisfaction of saying he beat Fury which has been a difficult task for any fighter to say in boxing. It may also give him the bigger names he wants such as Connor McGregor
