Huskies Edge Out Gophers in Thrilling 71-68 Victory
In a nail-biting contest on Saturday, the Washington Huskies managed to hold off a determined rally from the Minnesota Gophers, clinching a 71-68 victory. Tyler Harris was a standout for Washington, scoring 23 points, while Great Osobor contributed significantly with a double-double, adding 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Harris' 23 points marked his highest output against Big Ten competition, showcasing his development as a sophomore. Osobor, meanwhile, achieved his sixth double-double of the season, playing a crucial role in securing Washington's first true road victory of the year.
The Huskies entered halftime with a comfortable 10-point lead, but the Gophers made a fierce comeback, tightening the score to just a single possession in the final minutes. He then executed a crucial putback of Zoom Diallo's driving layup and made a critical defensive play by stripping Lu'Cye Patterson, putting the Huskies in a strong position
.
DJ Davis and Mekhi Mason then sealed the victory for Washington by converting four consecutive free throws in the closing moments.
In addition to Harris and Osobor's performances, Diallo contributed 11 points, while Mason added 10, rounding out a balanced scoring effort from the Huskies.
Harris was particularly effective in the first half, scoring 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including three 3-pointers.
