Giants blow second half lead to Lions 21-16
The New York Giants' offense folded in the second half against the Lions.
Daniel Jones had the night off, so Tommy DeVitto stepped in for him and put on a show for the world to see and didn't leave any crumbs on his plate. DeVitto went 15 of 24 for 155 yards, one touchdown and one pick for the game. With DeVitto in the game, the offense flowed very fluid and scored 13 points in the first half.
However, New York had trouble running the ball in the second half and a costly turnover but the Lions in the driver's seat for a potential comeback. Detroit scored 18 points in a blink of an eye and had New York reeling just a bit. On the ground, New York had a total of 81 yards. After the game, coaches from New York had a lot of great things to say about DeVitto's success in the opener. They liked how he used his legs to extend plays and not force the ball in tight windows, as well as looked poised when he was getting pressured.
The Giants' next game will be against the Panthers Aug. 18
