Gervonta “Tank” Davis dominates Ryan Garcia in superfight

It was the fight boxing fans have wanted for years and on Saturday night they finally got their wish as Gervonta “Tank” Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) knocked out rival Ryan Garica (23-1, 19 KOs) in the 7th round by a vicious body shot. Tank certainly proved the levels between the two separating the distance early and often

Garcia was ready to fight from the early stretches, landing a series of single power shots to get Davis' attention. Davis did an excellent job grappling Garcia. Which earned himself distance to land powerful counter shots. Garcia, the 24-year-old social media star, learned to respect Davis' power as he went down hard in the 2nd round with a powerful hook. It seemed like after that knockdown Garcia was hesitant to throw anything else.

Garcia went down to one knee after a delayed reaction after “Tank” crumbled him with a hard body shot referee Thomas Taylor counted Garcia out just as he rose to his feet at 1:44 of Round 7. The pageantry in the buildup to the fight may have been more of the story than the actual fight. As the narratives of dissension with Davis and his longtime promotor and mentor Floyd Mayweather was brought up several times through the buildup.

Davis, who seemed to reunite with Mayweather before the fight, hugged his longtime mentor after the victory with a huge smile on his face. Despite everything surrounding this fight. Davis proved that he is coming for the top spot of being the face of boxing and hopefully for boxing fans a fight with Shakur Stevenson or Devin Haney happens in the near future.
