Game of inches and possessions lead Arizona over Colorado 34-31
The talk in the Arizona Wildcats’ locker room all week was to stay focused on taking things one game at a time. Arizona coaches and staff made sure not to allow distractions to a Wildcat’s team that has won the past three games. Arizona also was announced as the number 21 ranked team in the College Football Playoffs rankings this past week. Head Coach Jedd Fisch has impressively brought back a program that had been on the brink of contention the past few years with now a 6-3 record heading into a showdown with the Buffalo of the University of Colorado. Colorado jumped out to a 24 to 17 lead in the first half and showed early consistency on the offense with newly appointed play caller Pat Shurmur.
Arizona outscored Colorado 17 to 7 in the second half including 10 unanswered points to win the game in the 4th quarter. With 0:00 on the clock, Arizona kicker Tyler Loop, converted a 24-yard field goal as the Arizona Wildcats improved their record to 7-3 and will surely climb higher on the CFP rankings this coming week. The Freshman quarterback, Noah Fifita, had a quality game throwing for 214 total yards on 21 of 35 passing attempts including 2 touchdowns and no turnovers. Running back, Jonah Coleman, carried the ball on 11 attempts for 179 yards. For Colorado, multiple questions continued to be asked, but for this week many missed opportunities can explain the Arizona comeback in Colorado. Quarterback Shadeur Sanders passed for 262 yards with 2 touchdowns on 22 of 35 completions. Arizona now rides a four-game winning streak heading into next Saturday where they will host an ascending Utah team, while Colorado travels to Washington State to attempt to reach bowl eligibility.
