Fever scraps out a gritty victory over the Lynx 81-74
Kelsey Mitchell does not get talked about enough for her contributions in the second half of games. Outside of Caitlin Clark, Mitchell has been that second option with the Fever needing a bucket to either cut a lead or extend the lead to get a victory. In the game against the Mercury, Mitchell had herself a day, scoring 25 points. Indiana has some superstars emerging, but their problems come in the second half, with turning the ball over. Mitchell and Clark both started the game against Minnesota kind of slow. Both players could not get into rhythm and finished out the half, combining for 14 points. Despite the grind it out half, the Fever was right in the mix with the Lynx.
Indiana played a bit sloppy in the second half. Clark and Boston were not on the write script as they combined for six turnovers in the third quarter. You could see the frustration in the Fever players. They did not have that bounce like they had in the first quarter. However, I guess was something was said in the huddle after a timeout, because the Fever went on a 17-7 sprint to take a lead mid-way in the fourth. Mitchell and Boston took over the rest of the way and held onto the victory.
