Fever's offense ice cold in second half
The young Fever team had their first taste of the playoffs since 2016 and was anxious but ready to play the Connecticut Sun in the first round of the playoffs. Things have come together for the Fever as Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell put together a scoring fleet and bombed the league with their outside shooting. So, coming into this game, Indiana's superstars were pretty confident.
The pace of the first quarter was pretty up-tempo and a sprint to the basket. AB, Mitchell, and Clark put their imprint on the game early on. Indian was shooting around 40% from the field. One of the key factors with keeping the Fever in striking distance was Lexie Hull as she was effective on both sides of the floor. From blocking shots to hitting three pointers, she was doing it all. Despite everything going well, the Sun went on 9-2 run and pushed their lead to eight.
Coming out of the locker room, the Fever wanted to get Clark started. She was 0-6 from rainbow land and looked out of sync. Turnovers, turnovers, and turnovers hurt the Fever late in the third quarter and the Sun took advantage of the turnovers and turned them into points.
Heading into the fourth, the Fever had to dig themselves out of 15-point lead. Clark and Mitchell could not get their offense going and eventually went onto lose 93-69. Clark finished with 11 points
