Eagles running attack pounded the Ravens defense in the ground

The question for the Eagles coming into Sunday’s matchup with the Ravens was, how will they stop the running game from Baltimore with Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry.  One thing that was evident on Sunday was that Philadelphia made sure to not let the ground game get out of hand.  The Ravens did accumulate 166 rushing yards on 32 attempts, but the Eagles did not allow a rushing touchdown to Lamar nor Henry.

Derrick Henry totaled 82 rushing yards on 19 carries and was held in check for the most part.  The secondary for the Eagles played a tremendous game, however tight ends Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely did get into the end zone for both of the Ravens’ touchdowns, but Zay Flowers was held under 100 yards receiving with no touchdown and only 1 other Baltimore listed wide receiver made a reception (Tylan Wallace).  A collective effort from not only the defense but the offense got the momentum going in the second half, and Jalen Hurts led the way with 118 yards on 11 for 19 completions and 1 touchdown.

Eagles running back Saquon Barkley did have 23 carries for 107 yards, but more importantly was efficient on third down conversions and did score 1 touchdown as well.  Philadelphia improves to 10-2 on the season and is in first place in the NFC East over the Washington Commanders.  Baltimore trails the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North with a record of 8-5 and heads to the bye week.  The Eagles will host a much-improved Carolina Panthers team on Sunday and will look to challenge the Detroit Lions for the number 1 overall seed that can avoid a wildcard playoff game and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
