Eagles' offense non-existent in a loss to the 49ers 17-11

Philadelphia- The Eagles had a total of 177 passing yards in a loss to the 49ers.

Coming off a thumping and impressive win against the Atlanta Falcons in their season opener, the Eagles wanted to build off that confidence booster and play sound ball against the San Francisco 49ers.

This game started a lot bit slow compared to last week. Jake Elliot hit a 45-yard field goal to put the Eagles atop of the 49ers 3-0 with under four minutes left in the first quarter. Philadelphia had a chance to put more points on the board at the start of the second, but Elliot's field goal attempt was blocked. Defensive was the theme for the rest of the quarter. Philadelphia put a lot of pressure of Jimmy G and the 49ers' offense. Midway in the quarter, Jalen Hurts and crew had their first explosive play in the game. Hurts threw a 91-yard bomb to Quez Watkins, who put Philadelphia at the goal-line. The Eagles had four cracks with trying to get into the endzone, but walked away with nothing to show for it.

The Eagles secondary got burned with .18 seconds left in the half. Jimmy G found a soft spot in the Eagles' zone and threw a strike to Deebo Saunders, who broke for a 35-yard gain. A play later, Jimmy G threw a touchdown pass to take their first lead of the game. Despite controlling the game, Philadelphia went into the locker room down 7-3.

Philadelphia could not get anything going offensively in the second half. Hurts could not get deep balls thrown to his wide receivers because the 49ers did a great job with making sure everything was in front. The Eagles did a good job with containing the 49ers until a huge PI call helped the 49ers on a third and goal early in the fourth quarter. On the ensuing play, San Fran rammed the ball down the Eagles throat for a one-yard touchdown to extend their lead 14-3.

The Eagles made the game very interesting late. They scored a touchdown and converted a two-point conversion to make it a one possession game. San Fran went on to bleed the clock and escape with a hard nose victory
