Eagles HC wants the birds to fly this season, but it starts with daily improvement
Philadelphia- After an unsettling and uneventful preseason game last week, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni sees potential in his guys, but they have to improve.
In Week 2 of the preseason, the Eagles looked awful on all sides of the ball. Despite Jalen Hurts being sick and Joe Flacco getting the start, the Eagles could not get their offense clicking. On the defensive side of the ball, missed tackles and missed assignments haunted Philadelphia the entire game.
After looking at tape and going back to the chalkboard, Sirianni saw some bright spots, despite the blowout loss. He liked some of the routes that his wide receivers ran, but he stated so many times in a press conference that there is room to improve.
"We want to get better every day and our success is not on, ‘Hey, did we win this practice here?’ ‘Did we get better today?’ is really our mindset. So, we look at it as we have three more weeks to get ready for that first game," said Sirianni.
"Are we where we want to be right now? No, because we have three more weeks to go until we get there, and we're anticipating ourselves getting better every single day. That's been the players' motto and my motto is like, ‘Hey, your rent is due.’ I know Jalen said, ‘Your rent is due every day,’ and when you pay your rent every day, you get better every day.
The Eagles walk into their last preseason game with a record of 0-2 and have not look like the team they could potentially be in the regular season. Philadelphia has had to deal with certain players being injured, which knocked their chemistry off a bit. It will be interesting to see how many reps that the starters will get in their last preseason game.
