Eagles DC believes that Milton Williams has been thrown to the fire, but handles his business well
Philadelphia- Young and ambitious DT Milton Williams is doing all he can do to make the Eagles squad.
Williams, who missed a couple key tackles against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Eagles first preseason game feels like there is a lot of pressure on him to perform. He has had a great camp thus far and his coaches speak highly on him, but he needs to make key plays when it matters. Like most players that are trying to make pro teams, coaches will throw their players in the pits of hell to see if they will survive and get out of their comfort zone. Each time Williams was thrown into the fire, he survived it.
Eagles' defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon believes that Williams is finding himself, even though he has had a couple of mistake in live action. "He is doing a good job. He is another one and all of our rookies, I feel like they get baptized by fire so to speak. They are out there and we're doing a lot with those guys, and they make some mistakes. The key thing with those, especially the younger guys, is just try to get better and not make the same mistake twice. We’re putting a lot on his plate and he's handling it well.
Williams will probably get some reps in the Eagles' second preseason game against the Patriots. It will be very interesting to see how Williams responds back after a few mishaps last week.
