Eagles blow fourth quarter lead to Falcons 22-21
The theme for the Eagles on Monday was let's be gutsy. In the first half, Nick Sirianni went for two fourth and shorts to send a message to the Falcons. The first call was questionable, because the Eagles left points off the board, while the second fourth and shorted was converted to a touchdown. Philadelphia's defense looked a bit suspect as they couldn't stop the Falcons in the last two minutes of the half. They had three crucial penalties, which put the Falcons in the driver seat for potential points. Bijan Robinson was wounding the Eagles as he ran through would be tackles. Philadelphia may a big stop on third and goal and forced the Falcons to a field goal. At the end of the half, the Eagles were clinging onto a 7-6 lead.
Philadelphia's offense started to come alive in the second half. Jalen Hurts caught fire and made the right reads to put his team in position for a touchdown late in the third quarter. However, the Eagles had to settle for a field goal. Things got interesting in the fourth as both teams were scoring at will. Clinging onto a 18-15 lead, the Eagles' defense came up huge as CJ-Gardner Johnson put a huge hit on Robinson to stop the Falcons on a fourth and short. With only a minute left, the Falcons walked down the field and shocked the Eagles with a touchdown to go up one.
With only .30 ticks left in regulation, Hurts and crew needed to get into field goal range to pull off a game winning shot to win the game. However, Hurts threw a costly pick which ended the game.
