Eagles blow a second half lead and ended up in a tie with the New York Jets 31-31
Philadelphia- The Eagles let a second half lead slip and ended the game in a tie with the New York Jets.
After having a great start to the first half, with Joe Flacco throwing for two touchdowns and extend the Eagles lead to 21-10 at the half, things started to go down hill in the third. Flacco finished his reps in the third quarter and Nick Mullens replaced him. Mullens looked very hesitant with pulling the trigger on long balls and had trouble with the timing with his receivers. He finished the game 10 out of 14 for 98 yards.
The Eagles' defense could not get the Jets off the field on third down conversions late in the game. Josh Johnson picked apart the heart and soul of the Eagles' defense and made the game very interesting in the fourth. After being down a couple of touchdowns, the Jets found themselves back in the game after scoring off an Eagles' turnover. The game was tied at 31 late in the fourth and both teams could not get into a comfortable position where they felt like their kicker could win the game for them. Both teams walked out of the game with a tie under their preseason record.
The Eagles went 0-2-1 in preseason and face a lot of uncertainty with their QB Jalen Hurts. Hurts have played only one preseason game and did not really look sharp. The Eagles' defense continues to struggle with holding late leads and allowing opponents to convert on third down conversions. With the opening of the regular season in two weeks, the Eagles have a lot to improve on in a very short time.
