Drew McIntyre Money in the Bank cash in expires after immediate cash in
Toronto, Canada was the home of WWE’s 2025 Money in the Bank. The PLE featured the two annual ladder matches and the appearance of two WWE legends. Trish Stratus hosted the PLE. However, the shock of the night was the appearance of John Cena. Cena announced yesterday that 2025 will be his last year as an in-ring competitor. Cena announced he plans on going on one last run and 2025 Wrestlemania in Las Vegas will be his last match. The announcement sent shockwaves through the WWE universe. As for the matches there were a total of five including the two Money in the Bank matches and one title match which had the most controversial finish of the night.
Money in the Bank: Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. Chad Gable vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Jey Uso vs. LA Knight- Each man in this match had exciting spots. The results of this match came off pretty obvious. Fans rocked out with the YEET vs. YEAH battle between Knight and Uso before Hayes got going and nearly pulled down the briefcase. Melo took a big sunset flip bomb spot onto a ladder and Gable hit Knight with a belly to belly suplex onto a ladder as well. Drew cut off Jey when he was so close to winning by hitting him with a ladder and then retrieved the briefcase for himself. The action was very good but it will also be forgotten in a couple of days. The match seem like a waste of time due to the events that occurred later on in the night
WWE Intercontinental Championship: Sami Zayn [c] vs. Bron Breakker- Bron controlled this match from the early onset using his speed and power. The idea here was for the Canadian to play superhero and took the villain's best stuff. Bron seemed poised for the win only for it to not happen. Sami got a boot up on a Bron Spear attempt and then he delivered the Helluva Kick to retain.
Host of the show Trish Stratus introduced John Cena as a surprise for the crowd. He came in hype but then announced his retirement from the WWE. He said the 2025 Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber will be his last, while WrestleMania 2025 will also be his final Mania. He later clarified on the post-show that his farewell tour will run from January through December 2025.
World Heavyweight Championship: Damian Priest [c] vs. Seth Rollins- This match had a pretty clear stipulation. If Priest wins, Seth never gets another shot while he’s champion and if Rollins wins, Priest must leave Judgment Day. The match within itself started hot as Seth tried to win early and Priest kicked out. They played the match super close to the vest as neither man gained a clear advantage. Seth hit the superplex/Falcon Arrow combo for a close near fall. When Drew McIntyre’s music hit as he marched down to the ring. He handed the briefcase to the referee and officially cashed in, making this a triple threat match. He had Claymore cut off twice before starting to get going, only for CM Punk to run in and attack him. That included wailing on him with a chair and choking him with a ringside cable. He hit him with the World Title, allowing Damian to deliver South of Heaven and retain. After the match Punk sat Indian style on the announce booth. A visibly frustrated Rollins cussed at Punk and tried to fight Punk. As Punk looked unfazed with everything.
Later in the night during the WWE post show. McIntyre stormed the set attacking security and threatening Punk saying he knows where his family lives. Raw GM Adam Pearce tried calming him down and McIntyre grabbed him and pinned him up against the guard rail. Wade Barrett had to help escort a livid McIntyre.
Money in the Bank: Chelsea Green vs. IYO SKY vs. Lyra Valkyria vs. Naomi vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. Zoey Stark- Chelsea Green was hilarious in this match. Apparently, she is afraid of heights and tried to throw a ladder at the briefcase instead of climbing the actual ladder. The one spot that likely will get remembered is Naomi doing a split across two ladders and then busting out a DDT. Chelsea nearly got the briefcase but was shoved off and went through several tables by Tiffany, who then pulled down the briefcase at the 16:51 mark. An absolutely wild ladder match with some ridiculous spots. After the match Tiffany Stratton had a backstage run-in with Trish Stratus.
The Bloodline vs. Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens and Randy Orton- Jacob Fatu is a beast! His agility and pure ring prowess makes him the biggest threat in the current bloodline. The Bloodline quick tags and impactful offense to hold serve. Owens took the longest heat segment of the match which was done to lead into the Cody/Solo interaction they were teasing early on. Solo hit a Spear to huge heat and seemed on the verge of winning after a low blow by Tanga Loa. They held Cody in place as Solo did the Umaga finisher and they threw the referee back in. After the match during WWE’s post show. The announce team tried to interview The Bloodline and Solo said Acknowledge Me and threw the headset off. The main event for Summerslam seems like it's headed towards Solo Sikoa vs Cody Rhodes.
