Dophins dived headfirst in a loss to the Eagles 31-17

The Miami Dolphins took their track team of an offense on the road to face Philadelphia after the Eagles took their first loss of the season last week in New York against the Jets. Miami came into Philadelphia leading the NFL in points per game with 36.2 ppg. The Dolphins were also riding on a two-game winning streak. The Sunday night matchup was a clash of two teams with completely different styles and approaches. Philadelphia and Miami both happen to be in the top 5 in the NFL in rushing yards per game, but Miami averages 144 fewer rushing yards per game on the road.

The battle of the trenches was controlled by the Eagles, as they won the rushing battle by 54 yards and held Miami to only 45 yards rushing, which was a season low. The Eagles infamous tush push played a crucial role in their ability to close out the game as they went 4 for 4 on fourth downs while not allowing the Dolphins to convert on either of their two 4th down attempts. Miami road difficulties continued in Philadelphia, mainly due to only being inside the red zone once in the entire game and being penalized 10 times, while Philadelphia never received any flags on the night.

The Dolphins wins came against opponents who had combined records of 8 and 25, while their losses were to the only teams that have a record over 500 so far on their schedule. Next week, the Dolphins will look to bounce back as they have a divisional matchup against the New England Patriots, who defeated the Bills on Sunday. The Dolphins will look to get into a rhythm against the Patriots, as they will face the one-loss Chiefs a week later. Miami will be seeking to fix their road problems in two weeks' time against the Kansas City Chiefs, who surely will present a true test for the Dolphins. A win versus a real contender is exactly what Miami needs, but time will tell if the Dolphins are ready.
