Dodgers win the 2024 World Series

Many things will be said about the 2024 World Series and a lot of questions will be asked to the Yankees manager, Aaron Boone. One thing that will not be questioned is the grit and fight that the Los Angeles Dodgers team displayed all series long.  Trailing by 5 runs, the Dodgers fought back to not only tie the game but take a lead.  During Aaron Boone’s press conference, it was almost as if he could not explain at what moment the momentum swung in the Dodgers favor, but many would point to the disaster that was the 5th inning.  However, in all actuality game 1 was an indication of questionable choices made by the Yankees skipper that will be talked about the entire offseason.

Multiple players for the Dodgers could have been named World Series MVP including Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, and even a pitcher.  Ultimately the power and timing of homeruns is what led to Freddie Freeman’s 2024 World Series MVP and set multiple World Series records.  Multiple at bats helped point to Freeman’s MVP, but the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history is what sealed his MVP.

The Los Angeles Dodgers came back from a 5-run deficit to beat the Yankees 7 to 6, and now have lost 3 of the last 4 appearances in the World Series dating back to 2000.  During the celebration there was a sense of accomplishment felt in the clubhouse, “In spring training this is what we said we were going to do and we did it,” Mookie Betts yelled as the victory Champagne flowed.  The Dodgers pitchers had a major role in the championship and last night Walker Buehler relieved a 9th inning game for the first time since his rookie year in 2018 and looked in complete control.  The Dodgers captured their 8th World Series championship and secured a 98-win season.  Many questions will be asked about the New York Yankees roster and what it will look like in 2025.  Los Angeles has the flexibility to add to the roster that had Shohei Ohtani defer the bulk of his $700-million contract until the third year, so the Dodgers definitely can make some signings and lure top free-agents for the 2025 campaign.
