Dallas Wings’ Satou Sabally receives WNBA CARES COMMUNITY ASSIST award for May
The WNBA Cares Community Assist award recognizes Satou Sabally for her dedication to the Dallas community for the efforts she has shown in regard to mentoring the youth, as well as her leadership in serving both her teammates and the community. Satou’s participation in many programs has allowed her to fully engage in her mentorship for the youth through platforms such as Café Momentum, Dallas-based restaurant that provides a paid internship program for justice-involved youth. Her continued dedication to being a role model has provided mentorship opportunities such as hosting events with community leaders and her involvement with upcoming Black Girl Magic Museum program interactions. Sabally as a Jordan Brand athlete has provided every youth member of the Café Momentum program a new pair of sneakers in addition to a $100,000 to the program itself.
Satou Sabally continues to use her platform to address critical issues facing our youth and community. She will continue to host financial literacy programs and distribute free copies of books, facilitate a boost to STEM programs with events that hosted 700 girls doing basketball drills, science experiments, and discussions on the importance of importance of leadership and staying healthy and active. Satou is also the Vice President of WNBA Executive Committee and an advocate for equality and wellness in the Dallas community. Her outstanding efforts in the community and ongoing philanthropic, charitable work is a major reflection on why she has been awarded the month of May’s WNBA Cares Community Assist Award.
