Concerns for Aces

Eric Robinson

Las Vegas' Jackie Young scored 26 points, hitting 6 of 8 from behind the arc, and Kelsey Plum scored 20. A'ja Wilson had 15 points and nine rebounds, ending her run of 20 and 10 games at 8 games. Tiffany Hayes scored 12 but it wasn't enough for the Aces tonight. As they struggled on defense.

For the second time this season, Minnesota crushed the two-time defending champions in Las Vegas in June, winning 100-86. The Minnesota Lynx smashed the Las Vegas Aces 98-87 on Wednesday night thanks to 23 points scored by Napheesa Collier and 22 points scored by Courtney Williams.

The Lynx shot 55.2% in the first win, and 59.4% in this one. Defense has been a struggle for the Aces this season and Coach Becky Hammon has stated it many times. Bridget Carleton added 12 points, Kayla McBride added 11 and Alanna Smith had 10. This gave the Lynx five starters in double figures for just the second time this season, the first coming in the other game against the Aces back in June. Offensively, Myisha Hines-Allen had eight points after being acquired in Tuesday's trade.

There will be a rematch between the two teams in Minnesota on Friday, where the Aces won 80-66 in May. It will be for the fourth and final time in the regular season, as the Lynx lead the series 2-1, and it should be yet another exciting contest between these two teams.
