Cody Rhodes and Liv Morgan wins inaugural Crown Jewel championship
Riyadh Season’s WWE Crown Jewel has always been one of WWE’s biggest PLE’s of the year. Saturday’s Crown Jewel was no different as WWE crowned its first ever Crown Jewel men and women’s champion. Cody Rhodes and Liv Morgan were awarded Super Bowl like rings in a post PLE ceremony. Besides that, The Bloodline storyline added another layer, and no major belts switched hands as WWE gears up for what is shaping up for an explosive Survivor Series.
Roman Reigns, Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso vs. The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and Jacob Fatu)- It was a perfect way to start the night as The new Bloodline was victorious over the OG Bloodline. Solo Sikoa was able to get a clean win and pin over Roman Reigns connecting on two samoan spikes. The exciting wrinkle in this match was the addition of Sami Zayn. After the match The new Bloodline inflicted more damage on their opponents, and when they were going for the crushing blow to Jay Uso, Sami Zayn emerged. Zayn stood across Sikoa, gave him a hug which turned out to be a reverse exploder. Sikoa was surrounded in the middle of the ring and when Zayn tried a helluva kick, Sikoa dodged it and inadvertently hit Reigns. An argument ensued while Zayn left in confusion. The old Bloodline finally has the fourth person it needs to go up against their opposition. A WarGames match is certainly brewing for Survivor Series between the two sides, and the teams are all but set up now.
Fatal-four way tag team match for WWE Women's Tag Team Championship: Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair (c) vs. Kairi Sane and Iyo Sky vs. Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson vs. Chelsea Green and Piper Niven- This is one of those matches where the dominant champions prevailed despite great efforts from Damage CTRL. The key spot of the match was when Piper Niven accidentally landed a splash on Chelsea Green. It gave the champions enough time to capitalize and get the victory.
Seth Rollins vs. Bronson Reed- This has been one of the hottest rivalries on Monday Night Raw. And the two attacked each other early before the bell rang. The pure hatred between Reed and Rollins made this a great match, and it translated. Reed is proving to be more than just a power wrestler, and he has plenty of potential to become a singles champion. Although he didn't win he put up a great showing against one of the best pure wrestlers in the world.
WWE Women's Crown Jewel Championship match: WWE Women's Champion Nia Jax vs. Women's World Champion Liv Morgan- This was a match filled with interference as Tiffany Stratton loomed dangerously in the background. When she handed her briefcase to the referee, Jax got up and questioned what her ally was doing. She then told her to leave, but Stratton opted to stay. When Stratton tried to cash in again, Raquel Rodriguez emerged and stopped Stratton from potentially cashing in on the Women's World Champion. Meanwhile, Dominik Mysterio distracted the referee and allowed Rodriguez to knock down Jax. With her down, Morgan used an Ob-Liv-ion to get the pin and win the Women's Crown Jewel Championship
Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens- This wasn’t actually a match. Owens attacked Orton from the start. Referees, officials and even the general managers tried to stop the melee. Owens delivered a stunner to the referee and even Monday Night Raw's Adam Pierce received an RKO.The fight went into the crowd, and after using some equipment to hit Orton. Owens delivered a diving elbow off the stairs to Orton that completely took out both stars. It looked as if Owens completely took Orton out. This could eventually lead to Owens rekindling his feud with Cody Rhodes while Orton is on the mend.
Triple threat match for United States Championship: LA Knight (c) vs. Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes- This was a thrilling match that really allowed the challengers to shine, the energy and tempo was amazing, LA Knight did great in allowing his opponents to display their talents. Andrade and Hayes had a feud going into this match and it came to fruition in this match. Andrade and Hayes tried to end the match against each other, and the champion found a hole. LA Knight perfectly executed a BFT on Hayes that also got Andrade, and he pinned Hayes to retain the title.
WWE Crown Jewel Championship match: Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. World Heavyweight Champion Gunther- A tremendous wrestling match it’s not a shock when you put two of WWE’s top stars against each other. Rhodes landed several Cross Rhodes and those attempts were not enough. Rhodes signed it would take one more Cross Rhodes, and when it looked like things would go bad with another sleeper attempt, Rhodes got out of it and got Gunther's shoulders down for a pin. Rhodes and Gunther proved why they are WWE champions. Gunther showed off his dominance while Rhodes had the flair and quick hitting ability. Rhodes and Liv Morgan were presented with their inaugural championship rings on the post show to celebrate their accomplishment.
