Coco Gauff's quest for Gold in singles competition has ended

The goal and dream that the young tennis star had for herself in winning Gold in single's competition was cut short, as Coco Gauff was defeated by Donna Vekić 7-6, 6-2. In the first set Gauff was in complete control and it looked like she was just going to cruise in win the first set.

However, Gauff fumbled a match set and Vekic went on a winning streak to force an extra game in the first set, in which she won. After losing the set, Gauff did not seem to come out with that same confidence she had in the first set. Gauff had a lot of unforce errors in the second set and did not have that bounce to her step. In the end Gauff went on to lose the set 6-2.
