Coco Gauff defeats Jil Teichmann in opening match at the Australian Open 6-3, 6-2

New York- Brushing off the rust, Coco Gauff gets the victory over Jil Teichmann in her opener in the Australian Open.

A much more poised Gauff came into the match against Teichmann and played her game. Gauff hit her cross shots effectively, as well as hit a couple of backhand shots that frustrated her opponent. Gauff kept her unforced errors down and did not allow Teichmann to gain any type of confidence.

Gauff kept her foot on the pedal and advanced to the next round. "I know the stands are not as full with everything else going on in the world but I am happy you came to see me,' she told the crowd after the match.
