Coco Gauff advances to the next round

After coming back from the Paris Olympics, Coco Gauff wanted to make a statement returning to the US Open. Her match-up was against Tatjana Maria in which Gauff was the favorite to win the match. Gauff faced a bit of adversity in the first set as she had a couple of games that she let slip away. It seemed like Gauff had trouble getting into rhythm and could not get a handle on Maria's sliding forehand. Gauff's confidence started to shine late in the first set as she closed out games, with a couple of volleys, which shocked Maria. Gauff finished the first set 6-4.

The second set for Gauff was a grind out game. She was overly aggressive and was hitting around 41% in first serve. Despite her off game, Gauff went to win the second set 6-0
