Clemson takes a blow in a loss to Memphis in OT
In Littlejohn Coliseum, Clemson men's basketball took a six-point lead with 2:22 left in regulation but lost 87-82 in overtime to Memphis. With 23 points and 11 rebounds, Viktor Lakhin has achieved his second double-double of the season
As for the double-digit scorers, Chase Hunter and Ian Schieffelin each totaled 17 points each, while Jaeden Zackery had 11 points and Dillon Hunter finished with 10 points.
In the first eight minutes of the opening half, Clemson got off to a very sluggish start, scoring only five points in the first eight minutes of the game. Despite getting going late in the first half, the Tigers trailed 33-32 at halftime.
Clemson took a timeout after Memphis went on a 7-0 run to begin the second half. After trailing by as many as nine points, the Tigers rallied for a 46-45 lead at 11:35 on a Schieffelin 3-pointer.
With 1:04 to play Saturday, 16th-ranked it looked like Clemson was on its way to another hard-fought victory. After Chase Hunter drained a three-pointer in the clutch it appeared Clemson had done it again. However, that was not the case, as Memphis made a couple of big shots to force overtime. Clemson failed to execute in key moments down the stretch.
For Memphis Tyrese Hunter had 23 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 59.3 seconds left in overtime, as Memphis rallied past No. 16 Clemson
