Clemson hitting the portal
The Clemson Tigers are expecting Purdue transfer edge rusher Will Heldt to visit soon, ESPN's Pete Thamel reports. Heldt will visit LSU and Texas A&M as well.
Under Swinney, Clemson might start using the transfer portal, which would be a significant change for the program. Despite Swinney's dislike for the portal, it has been noted that it has proved lucrative for other teams, so it may be time for him to catch on. The Tigers have only taken two players from the transfer portal in backup quarterbacks Hunter Johnson and Paul Tyson.
Holdt is one of the best available transfer players at the moment, ranked as the No. 45 overall transfer and the No. 7 edge rusher, according to 247 Sports' transfer rankings. In 2024, the 6-foot-6 edge had 56 tackles and five sacks for the struggling Boilermakers. The former three-star recruit has plenty of room to grow, and he has flashed some exciting potential in the past this could be an added gem to an already stacked defense.
