Chiefs hang tough in victory over Browns 21-7
Despite the Chiefs being first place in the AFC, a lot of people including themselves wanted more offense coming into this week. You can say the entire season for the Champs have been nerve wrecking with not scoring touchdowns and hanging onto leads late in the fourth quarter. Heading into Cleveland, the message was pretty simple for the Chiefs and that was Let's not settle for field goals. Let's score touchdowns.
Kansas City started the first half by getting a turnover and turning the Browns' mistake into points for them. The fast start set the tone for the Chiefs for the most part in the half. Patrick Mahomes was pretty much robotic. He threw for two touchdowns. Now here is where things looked a bit bleak, late in the third quarter the Chiefs. Mahomes could not connect with his receivers for nothing, which kept Cleveland in the game after they scored a touchdown. Kanas's City stood up to the challenge and got the Chiefs out of danger after it looked like Cleveland was going to score again, to chip at the two-possession lead.
With a win over the Browns, the Chiefs place themselves in the driver seat for that number 1 seed and home field advantage. However, despite the win, Mahomes ankles were a huge concern as he tweaked both of them on a fourth and short play in the fourth quarter. Mahomes finished with 159 yards in two touchdowns.
