Chiefs defeat Vikings 27- 20 in tug of war matchup
The Minnesota Vikings have been nothing short of a disappointment to start the 2023-2024 season. Not only were they coming into the game with a record of 1-3, but they have also seen a poor performance defensively in several past games. To make things even more of a challenge, but 3-1 Kansas City Chiefs came into town riding a winning streak. A credit to the Vikings as they stayed engaged in the game the entire time, heading into halftime with a 13 to 13 tie.
Unfortunately, there were obstacles that could not be overcome with Justin Jefferson getting injured and a timely lost fumble led to the Chiefs scoring 14 second half points to the Vikings 7 points leading to a 27 to 20 win for Kansas City. Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 281 yards on 31 for 41 completions and 2 touchdowns. An injured Travis Kelce had 10 receptions for 67 yards and 1 touchdown. The Chiefs defense did hold Minnesota to 6 of 14 on third down conversions. Kansas City improves to 4-1 and the Vikings drop another game to have a record of 1-4. The Chiefs host the Denver Broncos on Thursday night for an AFC West divisional game, while Minnesota travels to Chicago for an NFC North game.
