Captain Kirk Cousins falls short in Falcons' debut 18-10

Captain Kurk Cousins opened his debut against a new and explosive team in the Pitsburgh Steelers. Prior to the game, Cousins admitted that he was a little excited to be playing for the Falcons and looked forward to the season.

After a walk in the park on their opening drive in which they scored a field goal, the Falcons' offensive sputtered a bit. Cousins threw an interception, which turned into a converted field goal for the Steelers. Cousins redeemed himself towards the end of the second half, as he marched his team down the field and ended the half with a touchdown to take the lead, 10-9

Down by five, heading into the fourth quarter, the Falcons wanted to jump-start their offense. TJ Watt was a menace on the defensive side of the ball, which the Falcons was trying to stop, while trying to find some type of rhythm to get into. Atlanta's defense came up huge on a critical fourth and short. The d-line forced Justin Fields back, as he called his own number and crumbed to the ground with the first wave of guys. With that stop, momentum was shifting over to the Falcons' side.

With a chance to potentially win the game with a go-ahead touchdown, Cousins threw a critical pick in double coverage, which cost the Falcons the game. Cousins finished 16 of 26 for 155 yards, 1 td, and 2 picks
