Caitlin Clark recorded another double double as Fever beat Mercury 95-86.
On Friday night, Kelsey Mitchell scored 28 points and Caitlin Clark had 20 points and 13 assists in what turned out to be her fifth consecutive double-double, as the Indiana Fever beat the shorthanded Phoenix Mercury 95-86.
After colliding with a teammate in the first half, Brittney Griner remained on the floor for an extended period of time before a timeout was announced. In addition, the team announced that Griner would be unable to return due to a hip injury on his right side. Already, Diana Taurasi (leg) and Natasha Cloud (knee) were out of the starting lineup for the Mercury.
Aliyah Boston added 21 points and 13 rebounds for Indiana while NaLyssa Smith added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Indiana's offense was explosive all game, as they were ahead with a 31-point third-quarter lead.
Kahleah Copper scored 23 of her 36 points in the final 20 minutes. Despite Phoenix's Sophie Cunningham's 21 points, it wasn't enough to take the lead.
This is the second time this season the young Fever team has beaten this experience Mercury team. The Fever continue to improve, and this victory could be a sign of things to come.
