C2 Clark breaks history in final regular season home game
Caitlin Clark scored 35 points in her final regular-season home game, becoming the NCAA’s all-time scoring leader in No. 6 Iowa’s 93-83 win over No. 2 Ohio State on Sunday.
Despite having another year of eligibility remaining, Clark announced on Thursday that she would enter the WNBA draft after this season. She made two free throws with less than a second left in the first half to eclipse Pete Maravich's 3,667 career points. Clark has 3,685 points heading into the postseason. Iowa will gear up for the Big Ten Tournament on Friday, but they will have to do it without guard Molly Davis. Davis was injured with 6:42 left in the first half. Davis, who started 27 games this season and averaged 6.3 points per game, fell to the court and grabbed her knee. She was carried off the court.
Now let's talk about Caitlin Clark. Clark is the most impressive offensive player in women's college basketball in three decades. Her points total, while massive and unmatched, only tells part of the story. It has been years since we saw a woman play like this. Lynette Woodard, Kelsey Plum, Maya Moore, Jackie Stiles, and Brittney Griner were incredible scorers. We've never seen a woman play like this.
She has the ability to shoot beyond half court like Steph Curry and Damian Lillard. Clark's passing makes her the most talented scorer but also the most talented all-around offensive player. Since Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi, Clark has been the best "get-ahead" passer. The way she sees the court is similar to the way Steve Nash sees it and Jason Kidd sees it. This tournament run could be legendary.
