Breanna Stewart sets the tone for Team USA in a win against Australia 79-55

Tokyo- Team USA advances to the semifinals after defeating Australia.

The USA Women's basketball team could taste meddling. All they had to do was put themselves in position to beat Australia to make it to the semifinals. Breanna Stewart got rolling in the first quarter. She was hitting shots from the inside and out and finished the first with 10 points.. Team USA poured it on in the quarter and finished the first on a 22-6 run to blow the game wide up.

Team USA continued their dominance in the second. Stewart and Aja Wilson dominated Australia on the boards. Each time one of their teammate missed a shot, Wilson or Stewart was right there to clean it up. Defensively, Team USA swarmed Australia and forced them to speed up their offense.Team USA went into the half with 48-27 lead.

In the second half, Team USA kept their foot on the pedal. Sue Bird,Wilson, and Stewart had the offense clicking. Each of these players were aggressive with getting to their spots on the floor and scored at will. With three minutes left in the third, the U.S. had a 64-39 lead. In the fourth quarter, Team USA hit the cruise control button and went on to secure a victory and a spot in the semifinals.
