Bill Laimbeer named Head Coach of the Month
Las Vegas- Las Vegas Aces head coach Bill Laimbeer has exceeded expectations and earned the honor of Head Coach of the Month.
After Liz Cambage opted out of the season because of COVID-19 and Kelsey Plum tearing her ACL, the Aces playoff hopes were doubtful. After a couple of wake up games for the Aces, Aja Wilson and team had an 11-1 run in the month of August. Everything started to click with Las Vegas, because they trusted each other, had fewer turnovers, and break out star Aja Wilson was determined to dominate each game. Wilson is averaging 20.3 points and 1.7 assists this season.
Kayla McBride is starting to become a better leader and find herself more involved in the offense. Coach Laimbeer loves how McBride is improving on and off the court. He likes that McBride is not scared to take the big shots, as well as her vision with finding open teammates. The keys to the Aces' success have been because Wilson and McBride both improved this season.
Las Vegas has a 12-3 record and is a half-game away from tieing the Seattle Storm for first place with only a handful of games before the playoffs start.
