Baltimore's running attack destroys Steelers in a one-side wildcard match
The Ravens have advanced to the second round of the AFC playoffs after beating the Pittsburgh Steelers 28-14 on Saturday night. This was thanks to Lamar Jackson's two touchdown passes in a flawless first half. Derrick Henry had a monster game, producing two touchdowns and 186 yards, on the ground. Jackson and Henry had the Steelers chasing shadows all night as Baltimore outrushed Pittsburgh 299-29. It was the most yards rushing allowed by Pittsburgh in a playoff game, breaking the Oakland Raiders' 232-yard mark 51 years ago.
After jumping out to a 21-0 halftime lead against their AFC North rivals and holding on, the Ravens will face either Buffalo or Houston next. Baltimore had a 19-2 advantage in first downs in the first half, when the Ravens produced touchdown drives of 95, 85 and 90 yards.
Jackson, the two-time MVP still seeking a postseason breakthrough, made it clear from the start that he was going to be a factor. He finished the game 16 of 21 for 175 yards through the air and ran for 81.
Jackson's ability to excel both as a passer and a runner makes him a nightmare for opposing defenses. His dual-threat capability forces defenses to stay on their toes, as they must account for both his passing accuracy and his explosive speed on the ground. This versatility opens up the playbook for the Ravens, allowing them to keep their opponents guessing and create mismatches throughout the game. For Baltimore to accomplish its ultimate goal, he must keep this up throughout the playoffs
