Anthony Joshua victorious in win over Robert Helenius
Anthony Joshua has the ability to chance to change the dynamic of another title run after losing his titles to Oleksandr Usyk. Joshua has not looked the same after the defeat and has been criticized by his peers after pulling out the win against Jermaine Franklin by unanimous decision in his last match.
Leading into this fight Joshua was supposed to face Dillian Whyte, but Robert Helenius got the last-minute call to fight Joshua, because Whyte failed his drug test. With only a week to prepare for the fight, Joshua was the favorite to pull out the victory. However, a lot of people were sleeping on Helenius. He is coming off a TKO victory against Mika Mielonen and could have made things very interesting for the next contender, if he could pull off the unmasked upset against Joshua.
Joshua knew that he needed to be levelheaded and not outpunch himself in the early stages of the match. Jousha was winning the early rounds but wasn't throwing much of anything. It got to the point that boo's were rained down on both fighters as nothing significant happened. One of the key factors that kept Joushua up on the cards was his jabs. He kept landing his unorthodox jab to the point that Helenius' right eye started to swell, heading into the sixth round.
Joshua started to throw more combinations in the later rounds and all of a sudden, it looked like
Helenius was a human punching bag. He finally hit the kill button and put Helenius to bed with a TKO in the seventh round.
