Anthony Davis had a 35 KFC bucket night in a W over the Suns,123-116

The NBA season is still in the first week of the 2024-2025 campaign.  The Suns won their first game against the Clippers in an overtime thriller 116 to 113.  Their task tonight was to face the other team in Los Angeles that came into the game 1-0 since the Lakers showed unity and a lot more offensive up-tempo against the Timberwolves.  The Phoenix Suns sparked an early run in the first quarter taking a 15-point lead.

The Suns lead by 22 points in the second quarter, but a valiant defensive effort from the Lakers to hold the Suns to shoot 51.2% from the field and 45.9% from three-point range.  The key to the comeback for the Lakers was the 17 total turnovers that the Suns had that led to 26 points that came off of turnovers.  Anthony Davis had another 30+ game (35 points) and 8 rebounds.  The help for the Lakers came in abundance, the Lakers bench totaled 22 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists.

Four of the Lakers starters all ended the night in double figures.  Hachimura ended with 14 points, Austin Reaves added 26 points and LeBron James added 21 points, 8 assists and played in complete control of the game and was the floor general that the Lakers needed.  The Suns had major contributions from Kevin Durant (30 points), Devon Booker (23 points) and Tyus Jones/Bradley Beal combined for 29 points as well.  The Lakers played the first game of what will be a back-to-back when Los Angeles will host the Sacramento Kings tomorrow night, while the Suns also opened a back-to-back and will play the Dallas Mavericks in Phoenix tomorrow night before hosting the Lakers in Phoenix on Monday.
