Another disappointing blow to Team USA as they failed to medal
Team USA was defeated by Canada 127- 118 and failed to medal for their second consecutive World Cup, which hasn't happened since 1970.
The Achilles heel for Team USA all tournament long was defending teams. They have allowed 103 per game in the last four games that they have played, and this morning was no different as they played a hungry Canada team. Someone must have told Dillon Brooks that he had the green light before the game. He took heed of that and torched Team USA with 39 points, which was his game high in the tournament.
Anthony Edwards led Team USA with 24 points, but the chemistry with his teammates was a bit off this game. Most of the game, Team USA trailed and had to make up ground by putting together late runs in the fourth quarter. Mikal Bridges was the hero to force overtime as he missed a free throw on purpose, grabbed his own rebound and scored to force OT.
In OT, Team USA had trouble finding the bottom of the net and stopping Brooks as well as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Team USA went on to lose to Canada, who was not the favorite to medal for Bronze.
