Aja Wilson's South Carolina Jersey will be retired next year

A'JA WILSON that's it that's all. In a pregame ceremony before the Gamecocks take the court against Auburn on Sunday, Feb. 2, South Carolina will retire the jersey of four-time All-American, three-time SEC Player of the Year and three-time WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson. There were many high-profile firsts for the program as an individual and as a team, including the first No. 1 recruit to become its first No. 1 WNBA Draft pick, in addition to a long list of program firsts in between.

As the program's first four-time All-American and National Player of the Year (2018), Wilson led South Carolina to its first SEC Tournament title (2015), first NCAA Final Four (2015), and first NCAA National Championship (2017). She became the first player in league history to win SEC Player of the Year three times and to go undefeated in four consecutive SEC Tournaments. The Gamecocks won the SEC regular season three times in her four seasons.

In the year 2021, her statue will be unveiled outside of Colonial Life Arena on the campus of the University of South Carolina. Now her jersey is going up in the rafters' congratulations A'JA.
