Aja Wilson continues to state her case that she is the face of the WNBA

The Aces bounced back tonight like a Big Sean song after falling to the New York Liberty on Saturday. For Las Vegas, Kelsey Plum hit four 3-pointers and finished with 18 points, Tiffany Hayes chipped in 11 points and Jackie Young added 10 points. But the star of the night was A'ja Wilson. To help the Las Vegas Aces beat the Los Angeles Sparks 87-71 on Sunday, she scored 34 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and 5 steals. This was her WNBA-record 17th game with 20-plus points and 10-plus rebounds this season.

She broke her own single season record for 20-10 games by 16, which Wilson set in 2023. She has scored at least 20 points and grabbed at least 10 rebounds in eight consecutive games, a WNBA record. While shooting 53% (85 of 161) from the field and 93.3% (56 of 60) from the free-throw line during the period, the two-time WNBA MVP averaged 29.3 points, 14.4 rebounds and 3.6 blocks.

Rookie Rickea Jackson led Los Angeles with 15 points. Dearica Hamby added 13 points, 11 rebounds and four steals and Kia Nurse scored 12 points — 10 in the first half. Jackson and Hamby each scored four points in a 10-1 run that made it a three-point game midway in the third quarter but Los Angeles got no closer.

The Aces have been successful this season due to Wilson's dominance. In addition to her scoring ability, her defensive presence helped the team control the pace. Her leadership has made the Aces a top contender in the WNBA.
