Aces survive in a thrilling game against the Sky 77-75
The two-time MVP for the two-time defending champions, A'ja Wilson, finished with 20 points and 18 rebounds, securing her 21st double-double of the season. Kelsey Plum not only scored 18 points, but she also added five assists to her 18 points, while Megan Gustafson made three 3-pointers and scored 13. Chelsea Gray scored 11 points, had eight rebounds, and seven assists, with her final assist coming on Wilson's game-winning shot.
Chennedy Carter scored 25 to lead the Sky. Lindsay Allen totaled 16 points and five assists, while Michaela Onyenwere had 15. Angel Reese scored 11 points and grabbed a season high 22 rebounds. The young Sky team played competitively the whole game, but the veteran Aces were just too much. With its third straight loss, the Sky saw its half-game lead over the Atlanta Dream for the final playoff spot slip to just a half-game.
Until the Sky made a push in the fourth quarter, the Aces looked like they would cruise to an easy win. Plum hit a 3-pointer to give Las Vegas a 73-60 lead with 4:36 remaining before the Sky rallied. As Chicago coach Teresa Weatherspoon was whistled for a technical foul, Gray hit a 3-pointer, Gustafson and Jackie Young scored back-to-back baskets, and Plum sunk a free throw. This ended an 8-0 run in the first 1:47 of the fourth. After Lindsay Allen made a 3-pointer and Chennedy Carter added two, Wilson closed the game out with her winning layup.
