Aces makes statement against the New York Liberty
The much-anticipated matchup that some would say could be finals preview between the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces ended in typical Aces fashion as they dominated the Liberty 98-81. Aces are now 14-1 owning the best home and overall record in the WNBA while continuing to grow and showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
The New York Liberty gave their best in the first half being physical in the paint and maintaining their mental toughness every time the Aces applied pressure. Aces grew their biggest lead in the 1st half to 13 points lead by Kelsey Plum, but the Liberty would stay grounded going into halftime down 7.
The Aces wasted no time as they opened up the second half with 2 stops and 3 assisted scores which helped the Aces take over the game as their defense continued to string together multiple stops and the offense found great looks in transition scoring at all 3 levels. Liberty’s offense could not get in rhythm and found themselves down 20 points in the 4th quarter and the Aces proceeded to close out the game with a great second half performance from Plum, Gray, and Aja Wilson.
Aces played as perfect of a game as you’ll find with a 32-7 assist to turnover ratio shooting 58% from the floor including nine 3 pointers and causing 15 turnovers on defense. Consistency on the defensive end has been this teams calling card and they are certainly clicking on that end of the floor. Aces will have the next couple days off as they prepare for another great matchup Saturday at home against the 12-4 Connecticut Sun coming off a loss to the New York Liberty.
