Aces blow out the Liberty in a must win game to extend the series

I must say that the Aces offense was rolling like a hot slot machine in game three of the series. It was a 19-point, 14-rebound night for A'ja Wilson. It was the Las Vegas Aces who took control with a 16-point run in the third quarter of Game 3 of the WNBA semifinals on Friday night as they remained in contention with a 95-81 victory over the New York Liberty. A 12-game winning streak for the Aces in the playoffs broke the WNBA record shared by the Los Angeles Sparks (2001-04) and Sacramento Monarchs (2003-06).

Chelsea Gray scored 10 points and seven assists to pair with Kelsey Plum's 20 points, Jackie Young's 24 points, and Tiffany Hayes' 11 points. The Aces shot 52.1%, including 40.6% from the 3-point line. The Aces simply couldn't miss tonight.

Among the Liberty players, Breanna Stewart led with 19 points, Jonquel Jones and Nyara Sabally scored 11 points each, and Leonie Fiebich scored 10 points for the team. Sabrina Ionescu, who entered the game averaging 24.5 points in the playoffs, was held to 4 points on 1-of-7 shooting. She had clamps on her all night until a minute into the fourth quarter when she made a technical free throw.

As a way to shed some light on the Aces defense, they were able to hold the Liberty to just six points in the 3rd quarter, and as they say pressure bust pipes, that is exactly what happened in the third quarter. Las Vegas finally beat the Liberty for the first time this year. New York won all three regular-season meetings and the first two games of this series. Game 4 will be played on Sunday
