A legend returns to ‘American Idol’

Season eight of American Idol will air in 2025 on ABC and Hulu.  Returning to the show to join a panel of judges that consists of Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie will be Carrie Underwood.  Carrie won season four of American Idol and is an eight-time GRAMMY Award winner.  Also returning for season eight will be longtime host Ryan Seacrest for the Spring 2025 premiere.  Underwood's return marks the 20th year since she won American Idol.  Craig Erwich, President of Disney Television Group is thrilled to have Underwood return, “This is a full-circle moment both for the show and audiences at home who have been tuning in for over two-decades.”  Carrie will be the first ‘American Idol’ alum and winner to ever join the judging panel.
